Who you are buying from
This shop is operated by Kalamandu Pvt. Ltd., Jhamsikhel, Lalitpur, Bagmati Province, Nepal.
Kalamandu is a marketplace. Some pieces are made and sold by us; others are made and sold by independent workshops listed under their own names. Every product page names the workshop that made the piece. Where a piece is sold by a workshop, your contract of sale is with that workshop, and we act as the platform that handles the order, the payment and the delivery on their behalf. Our responsibilities to you as the platform are the same either way, and you always deal with us first.
Placing an order
Adding something to your bag does not reserve it. Nothing is reserved until you place the order, and because almost everything here is one of a kind, an item can sell while it is in your bag. If that happens we will tell you at checkout rather than take the order and cancel it afterwards.
An order is an offer to buy. The contract is formed when we send the confirmation email, not when you press the button. If we cannot fulfil an order — because the piece has sold, because a price was listed wrongly, or because we cannot deliver to the address — we will contact you and refund anything you have paid in full.
Prices and payment
Prices are shown in the currency named at checkout and include VAT where it applies. Delivery is shown separately before you confirm.
No payment is taken on this website. Whichever method you choose — cash on delivery, bank transfer, or a wallet — the order is placed unpaid and we contact you with what to do next. Your order is not dispatched until payment is arranged or, for cash on delivery, until the courier collects it at your door.
We do not store card numbers, and there is no card form anywhere on this site.
What you are buying
Every piece is made by hand. Variation in colour, size and pattern is inherent to the work and is not a defect: a hand-knotted rug is not a printed one, dye lots differ, and a finished size may vary from the stated size by a small margin. We photograph pieces as accurately as we can, but screens differ, and a colour will never be an exact match to what you see.
Where a piece is described as one of a kind, there is exactly one of it.
If something is wrong
Your statutory rights are not affected by anything in this document. Beyond those, we cover manufacturing defects for 12 months from delivery. That covers faults in the making — a failing binding, a knot that has come away — and does not cover wear, damage, or the variation described above.
See the refund policy for returns, and the shipping policy for delivery.
Using this website
You may not scrape the catalogue, resell the photographs, or use the workshop names or images without permission. The text and photographs on this site belong to us or to the workshops.
We try to keep the site available and accurate, and we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or free of errors.
Changes and law
We may change these terms. The version that applies to your order is the one published when you placed it, and the date at the top of this page tells you when it last changed.
These terms are governed by the laws of Nepal. Nothing here removes a right you have under the consumer law of the country you live in.
Write to us at [email protected] before anything else — almost everything is resolved that way.
